Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the world, or in your house on your home computer, using an Internet account. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards as you can in order to win money. On this account it is much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has selected which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most beneficial game each and every instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
